Araku or Araku Valley is located at a distance of 120 km from Visakhapatnam. It is a famous tourist destination and people across the world often visit this place to see its exotic beauty.

This valley is at a height of 900 meters from sea level. Its stunning landscape, picturesque mountains, and breathtaking views are just an eye-pleasing feast for Nature lovers.

When should you visit Araku?


The BEST TIME to visit ARAKU is from November to February.


How many days are required to visit Araku?


Ideally, two days, but if you are planning to cover Lambasingi, then three days would be fine.


Lambasingi is 3 hours away from Araku. People often visit this place when they plan for Araku. So don't miss out.


Do visit Lambasingi during winter mornings to experience its beauty in its best form.

How to reach Araku?

One can reach Araku by Rail as well as by Road.


By Rail:

There will be a train starting at around 6 in the morning from Visakhapatnam station. Through the rail route, you can experience its beauty totally in a different way passing through tunnels.


By road:

You can either hire a cab or take a bus. We went by cab and it took 3 hours to reach this place from Visakhapatnam. Roads are pretty good and you will have a joyful experience.


By Air:

The nearest airport to Araku is Visakhapatnam International Airport. It is well connected with most of the major cities. From there, you can hire a cab and reach Araku.


Why should you visit Araku?


Our bodies need a break now and then so it rejuvenates and function better. When we live close to nature, our bodies heal automatically. So spending time close to nature will make us feel better.


Also, we live on this earth for a limited time and before we journey back to the godhead, let's roam around and experience the beauty of nature created by god for all of us.

Haritha Valley Resort:


We stayed in this resort, so I know about this better. I can say it's one of the best resorts in Araku. The ambiance is good. It is well-maintained and spacious enough.

Their service is good and the car parking facility is there even. It's close to many tourist attractions like Coffee Museum, and Padmapura Gardens.

The view from this resort is just amazing. You can see the trains passing through the rail route as well. They offer the Campfire Service as well at night. Of course, the charge is separate for it.




Jungle Bells Nature Camp (APTDC): (Tyda Nature Camp)

This camp is one of the popular places to stay in Araku. This place offers a variety of stay options for its customers based on their tastes and preferences.


Wooden Cottages, Log huts and Igloo kind stay are some of the options.

Apart from the above, you may find other options like Balaji hotel on garden road, and Punnami Yatri Nivas.


One can stay in cottages or resorts or tents as per their budget and interest. But Please book priorly.



Tourist Attractions to see in Araku:


Borra Caves, Katika Waterfalls, Tribal Museum, Padmapura gardens, Coffee Museum, Chaparayi waterfalls, Coffee Plantations, Galikonda View Point, Lambasingi and Paderu.


Borra Caves:

It is one of the most famous tourist attractions here. One must experience the beauty of this stunning natural creation.


These limestone caves are one of the Oldest and deepest caves in India and it's a must-visit, I say. The colorful lights installed inside the caves are beautifully lit and make it more attractive.


It is best witnessed during daytime and, in fact, after 5 pm entry is closed.



Tribal Museum:

They built this museum like a tribal hut and this place perfectly resembles the tribal lifestyle. One can learn a lot about the Tribal culture, traditions, and lifestyle.


From the entrance itself, you will find it very interesting. In the center of the Museum, you get to see a pool. To the right, you will see some stores which sell toys and tribal products and to the left, you will find an adventure cycling rope activity.


You can find interesting structures inside and I totally enjoyed visiting and observing the tribal lifestyle.



Padmapura Gardens:

One can experience the beauty of the gardens with a toy train ride. During the second world war, they used this place to cultivate vegetables and then supplied them to the soldiers.

Coffee Museum:

This place shows the exact process of how coffee is cultivated. From the beginning, till it reaches the end customer, they depict everything in detail.


You can try the coffee here and there will be an outlet where they sell coffee powder, chocolates, and some cupcakes.


It's a lovely experience and a must-visit for Coffee lovers.



Chaparai Waterfalls:

It is also known as Dambriguda falls. I can't explain the beauty of this place, but I can say it brings such a peaceful feel just by sitting around and putting your feet in the chill water.


A beautiful afternoon spent with your family or friends makes it a memorable one. Visit this place before it gets dark.



Coffee Plantations:

On our way back, we found these plantations. Anyone can go inside and watch people cultivating.

Galikonda View Point:

Travelers take a stop here and watch its beauty. One can have a Panoramic view of the valley from here. Many local residents sell naturally cultivated items.


Katika Waterfalls:

One of the most beautiful and famous waterfalls in Visakhapatnam. It's a must-visit place in Araku.

Lambasingi and Paderu are nearby places to Araku. Nature lovers can visit these two places to see their stunning beauty filled with fog, hills rich landscapes.


Foods to try here:


You MUST TRY BAMBOO CHICKEN. Try buying Coffee powder and Spices.

P.S: Don't forget to carry your Medicines, Shawls, Beanies, Sweaters, Sweatshirts, Swimwear, and Socks. In short, carry winter wear. A camera is a must if you want to preserve those moments.
