10 MOST FAMOUS PLACES NEAR VISAKHAPATNAM | VIZAG

Happy to see you here. Today I want to share with you all something interesting. I see many tourists often visiting Vizag, and they end up seeing sights like RK Beach, Kailasagiri, Zoo, Rushikonda beach and go back. But what if I say that there are many other beautiful places apart from these? Curious to know what are those places., Okay, fine let me share with you all some of the most interesting places to see around Vizag or Visakhapatnam.

So next time when you plan a trip here, you will have new places to visit on your bucket list. Now let's get ahead and see what's inside.


Visakhapatnam also known as Vizag, is in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is situated on the East coast side of the Bay of Bengal.


Vizag is also known as The City of Destiny.

Tourists across the world visit this place. It has many famous tourist attractions like Kailasagiri, Tenneti Park, Beaches, Temples, and so on.

If you are planning a trip to Visakhapatnam, make sure you visit at least some of the places mentioned here.



Let's begin.


1. ARAKU


Araku is a Tribal Village surrounded by mountains, lush green forests, and waterfalls. It is a famous tourist destination located 120 km away from Visakhapatnam.


Often people visit this place and enjoy the scenic beauty of this place.


Some of the best places in Araku are Borra Caves, Katika Waterfalls, Coffee Museum, Padmapura Gardens, Chaparai Waterfalls, Tyda Camp, and Galiconda View Point.


You can relax with your family and friends at night. Campfires and Local Tribal dance at Resorts are worth your money.


Don't forget to try Bamboo Chicken and their Coffee Powder.


Best Time to Visit: November - February.




2. LAMBASINGI


Lambasingi is a small village in Chintapalli mandal of Visakhapatnam district. It is at a height of 1000 meters above sea level and is nestled in the picturesque mountains of Eastern Ghats.


Lambasingi is also called as Kashmir of Andhra Pradesh for its spectacular views during winter. It is around 100 km from Visakhapatnam.


Some of the sightseeing views here are the Sunrise, Kothapalli waterfalls, and Strawberry Garden. People often visit this place to see its beauty.


It is best viewed in the early hours of the day during winter.


Be there by 5 am at least to witness the beauty at its best.


Best Time to Visit: November - February.


3. PADERU


Paderu is an Agency area with a beautiful landscape. It is a hill town and is famous for tribal products and coffee plantations.


One can go to this place by road alone.


The nearest railway station is Anakapalli and from there you have to take either a bus or a cab. It is 45 km away from Araku, 70 km from Anakapalli, and around 107 km from Visakhapatnam.


Places to see here are Modakondamma Temple and Vanjangi. The beauty of this place is best witnessed during the early mornings.


Leave the place before it gets dark is best advised.


Best Time to Visit this Place: November to February.

4. SIMHACHALAM


This is one of the most famous temples and a must-visit on your trip to Vizag. It is just 20kms away from the city. Lord Sri Varaha Narsimha Swami is the deity here.


People from across come and take the blessings of God throughout the year and offer their prayers.


This temple brings Peace to everyone with its calm environment and with its beautiful landscape around it.


This temple is on the top of Simhachalam hill at a height of 300 meters above sea level.

One can reach the temple either by climbing up the hill from the foothill of the temple where the steps begin or they can go on their own vehicles as well and even buses run frequently.


Many marriages take place here. There is a separate Mandap and even accommodation is available on the top of the hill.



5. BHEEMILI


Bheemili, also called Bheemunipatnam, is a suburb of Visakhapatnam. It is at a distance of 25kms from Visakhapatnam.


People often spend their weekends here to rejuvenate themselves.


The main attraction here is Beach. Apart from that, there is Dutch Cemetary.


You can visit this place at any time of the year and there are many hotels and resorts available for a pleasant stay.



6. VIZIANAGARAM


Vizianagaram has a lot of history. It is around 60 km from Visakhapatnam.


Some famous attractions to visit here are Vizianagaram Fort, Ramanarayanam Temple, Ramatheertam, Pydithallamma Temple, Saraswati Devi Temple, Clock tower, and Tatipudi Reservoir.


There is even Korukonda Sainik School. It is for children who are interested in joining the armed forces.


7. SRIKAKULAM


Srikakulam is at a distance of 120 km from Visakhapatnam. This place is famous for its Temples and beach.


Places to visit here are Arasavalli Suryanarayana Murthy Temple(Lord Sun Temple), Srikurmam, Sri Mukhalingeswara temple, Salihundam, and Kalingapatnam Beach.


You can visit this place at any time of the year except summer.


8. STEEL CITY OR STEEL PLANT


Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd., also known as Vizag Steel Plant, is situated here. This is the only Indian Shore-based Steel Plant.


One can visit this plant with prior approval. Close to this place, there are famous beaches such as Yarada beach and Gangavaram beach.

Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Township also called Ukkunagaram is where housing and accommodation for the steel plant employees are provided.


Inside the township, there are multiple schools, temples, hospitals, shopping complexes, clubs, and halls almost everything is available.


9. ANAKAPALLI


Anakapalli is a suburb of Visakhapatnam and is at a distance of 36 km from the main city (Visakhapatnam). This place is famous for its Jaggery market, which is the second-largest in India.


Places to visit here are Bojjanakonda (Buddhist Stupas & Monuments), Jaggery Market, Nookambica Devi Temple, Kondakarla Bird Sanctuary, and Pudimadaka Beach.

10. ANNAVARAM


Annavaram is one of the famous pilgrim places in Andhra Pradesh. People worship Lord Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana swami here, along with Sri Ananta Lakshmi Amma to the left and Lord Shiva to the right.


The temple is on the top of Ratnagiri hill which is surrounded by the Pampa river.


The temple is 2 km away from the Annavaram railway station. One can go to the top of the hill either by bus, auto, or car or they can prefer the stairs/steps way. There are about 450 steps to reach the temple.

This place is way too famous as a Pilgrim center. People from different parts of the country visit this place and offer their Prayers.


Many Weddings take place here. Accommodations are even available here.


The newlyweds come and do the Vratam(Puja) here and take the blessings of God. Not just the newlyweds' anyone can come and do puja here.


The Prasadam given at the temple is famous.




There is a boat ride facility available on the banks of the Pampa River.


Annavaram is located 110 km away from Visakhapatnam, 45 km away from Kakinada, and 85 km away from Rajahmundry.


The nearest airport is Rajahmundry Airport and Visakhapatnam International Airport. But the latter is preferred as this airport is well connected with the other major city airports in India.


Annavaram has its own railway station and most of the trains stop here. One can even go on their own vehicle through NH5 or can choose APSRTC buses.
